Hello! I had Betargin treatment course for prophylaxis. I noticed weight loss after Betargin treatment course. Does Betagin influence weight variations? Mariia

A certain weight loss resulting from the use of Betargin is due to the action of several mechanisms. Firstly, betaine promotes utilization and removal of excess fat from liver cells, normalization of fat metabolism.
Secondly, arginine improves microcirculation and reduces congestion, which prevents fluid retention, swelling and, consequently, weight gain for this reason.

Betargin for weight loss 1 question
Hello! the doctors diagnosed me with steatohepatitis. They prescribed Betargin in the dose 1 ampoule 2-3 times daily for 3 months. I have been taking it for almost 2 months. During this time, I lost 7 kg (-10% of the weight before starting to use Betargin). Does Betargin promote weight loss? Thanks in advance for the answer. Oleh

Hello!

Betargin promotes regulation of fat metabolism and digestion processes, and if the patient additionally follows a diet, indeed, the administration of this drug product contributes to weight loss, since its use improves liver function, causes utilization of neutral fat, and improves metabolic processes.

Betargin in intoxication 6 questions
According to my experience with my husband, Betargin is the best way to prevent hangover, especially as he has trouble with his liver from time to time. The problem is, he has noticed this too, and refuses to take Betargin before alcohol – this is just a waste of cognac, he says. Could you please tell me, can Betargin be diluted in juice, so that he would not notice it? Iryna

Betargin can be diluted in juice, 2 ampoules in a half of a glass. If Betargin was not taken before alcohol consumption, 2 ampoules diluted in half of a glass of water can be taken the next morning. This will help to eliminate the symptoms of alcohol intoxication and reduce the harmful effects of alcohol on the liver.

Could you please tell me, to relieve a hangover, do you need to drink Betargin before alcohol or after? And how many ampoules are required to be fresh as a daisy in the morning? Hryhorii

Hello!

If you take Betargin before alcohol consumption, it will significantly reduce the hangover, decrease the toxic burden on the body and protect the liver from its harmful effects. You should take 2 ampoules, diluted in a glass of water, before a party. If you didn’t manage to take Betargin before the banquet, you can do it even afterwards in the same dose – 2 ampoules per 1 glass of water.

If the hangover syndrome is significantly pronounced, this can be a signal of deterioration of the liver function; in this case, it is recommended to take Betargin in the dose 1 ampoule diluted in half of a glass of water 3 times a day for 2-3 more days to neutralize and remove all harmful alcohol decomposition products from the body.

Hello!

Arrhythmia may develop, besides other reasons, due to intoxication; in this case, use of Betargin before and after the banquet will help to avoid such troubles. However, arrhythmia can occur for other, more serious reasons, and alcohol only enhances its manifestations. You should consult a cardiologist in order not to miss the problem.

Betargin in liver diseases 19 questions
Hello! Can Betargin be used in the presence of gallstones, which do not trouble? And how can it be used as a “silver bullet” during alcohol consumption? Nataliia

Hello!

For prevention and elimination of alcohol burden, Betargin is taken as follows – 2 ampoules or sachets are to be diluted in half a glass of water and taken before alcohol consumption. If you didn’t manage to take Betargin before the banquet, you can take it afterwards to reduce the negative impact of alcohol on the body.
As for the gallbladder, when Betargin is used, the bile ducts are relaxed and outflow of bile is relieved, which improves the gallbladder functioning. The drug product has no choleretic effect, however, if the gallbladder is filled with stones, it is necessary to clarify the possibility of using any drug with the doctor.

Hello! My son (20 years old) has Crigler-Najjer syndrome. His bilirubin level is up to 140. The doctor prescribed Betargin in a 6-months course, 3 sachets per day. Isn’t this course too long? Betargin helps well in our situation (the tests have almost normalized). But the son needs permanent, daily intake of medications… I am worried about the treatment duration. Nataliia

Hello!

You can consult your attending doctor about receiving intermittent Betargin treatment courses, i.e. after normalization of parameters, the doctor may consider it possible to reduce the dose to 2 sachets per day, and take a break of 1 month after 3 months of treatment – such schemes are often practiced by specialists. But in your case, of course, only the attending doctor can approve the scheme.

Betargin is a highly safe remedy for long-term use, but since the control and treatment are permanent with this disease, you can discuss intervals in Betargin therapy with your doctor.

How effective is this drug product as maintenance therapy in liver fibrosis associated with hepatitis C? Iryna

Hello!

In fibrosis, Betargin acts due to both ingredients – arginine and betaine. Arginine increases blood supply and oxygen supply to the liver, reduces collagen formation around the veins in the liver, thereby reducing the level of fibrosis. Betaine acts on Kupffer cells in the liver, reduces inflammation processes, and, accordingly, slows down fibrosis. Betaine also helps to remove fat from liver cells and to restore damaged membranes of hepatocytes, which is especially important for hepatitis C genotype 3.

Hello! The doctor prescribed Betargin for gallbladder problems … he also recommended to combine the use of Betargin with split meals. Is it very important to follow the diet? And how long should treatment continue? I am also very interested in finding out how I can avoid buying a counterfeit drug product in a pharmacy. Thank you! Maryna

Hello!

Fractional nutrition is a mandatory item in the prescription, as nutrition in small portions will help not only to temporarily improve the situation, but also to prevent a number of problems with digestion in the future. This is an international recommendation of nutritionists.

The treatment duration will be established by the doctor according to the ultrasound data, when the sludge dissolves.

As regards counterfeit products, so far not a single case of falsified Betargin has been registered in Ukraine. Of course, if you were offered a replacement in a pharmacy, then it is the responsibility of other manufacturers.

Can Betargin be used in hepatitis C? Can it promote the improvement in liver function in such situation? In which doses should it be used in this disease? Oleksandra

Hello!

It is known that in patients with hepatitis C, the course of the disease leads to complications, in particular, to the fibrosis of the hepatic tissue. Betargin helps to reduce inflammation in the liver, to decrease the severity of fibrosis in hepatitis. A number of studies have demonstrated the ability of Betargin to reduce collagen formation in liver cells, improve microcirculation and oxygen supply of hepatocytes, as well as reduce the toxic effect of medicinal products used on the body; these properties of the drug product are very important in hepatitis. In patients with hepatitis C receiving Betargin, blood chemistry panel parameters rapidly return to normal (cytolytic syndrome decreases). However, only your doctor should prescribe a medicinal product for your liver on a case-by-case basis; be sure to consult a doctor before taking it!

Betargin does not cause the activation of viruses, including hepatitis C. In contrast, data from many studies indicate the ability of L-arginine (one of the active ingredients of Betargin) to improve immune function in different groups of patients.

I took Betargin for 2 months, 3 times daily. AST, ALT, GGT levels showed multifold increase, though bilirubin decreased somewhat. What could be the reasons? What would you recommend? I suspect hepatitis C! Thank you! Serhii

Hello!

If you suspect the presence of hepatitis C virus, your doctor will recommend you to undergo the examination first, and will prescribe therapy afterwards. If there is a virus in the body, its activity may enhance, and in this case, biochemical parameters may increase. The doctor determines the appropriate period for prescription of a hepatoprotector on a case-by-case basis in order to achieve the maximum effect of therapy.

My husband has hepatitis C genotype 3; the doctor said that the basic therapy needs to be supplemented with a hepatoprotector, and wrote a list of them to choose from. So now I’m making a choice. How has Betargin approved itself in hepatitis C patients? Angela

It is known that in patients with hepatitis C, the course of the disease leads to complications, in particular, to the fibrosis of the hepatic tissue. Betargin helps to reduce inflammation in the liver, to decrease the severity of fibrosis in hepatitis. A number of studies have demonstrated the ability of Betargin to reduce collagen formation in liver cells, improve microcirculation and oxygen supply of hepatocytes; these properties of the drug product are very important in hepatitis. In addition, with genotype 3, an increased amount of fat accumulates in the liver cells, which complicates the effective realization of antiviral therapy, and Betargin has a special property to remove excessive fat from liver cells, which distinguishes it from all other hepatoprotectors. Due to these effects, the use of Betargin in hepatitis C genotype 3 is justified for many reasons.

Hello! How effective is Betargin for hepatic steatosis? Can it be combined with other hepatoprotectors? Anatolii

Hello!

Betargin contains a unique component Betaine, absent in other hepatoprotectors. Betaine is able to remove fat rapidly from hepatocytes and reprocess it into a structural component for membranes of the liver cells to restore them; the rest of the fat is eliminated from a hepatocyte.

Betargin exerts several effects in fatty liver disease, but its distinctive mechanism is assured by Betaine. That is why the result of the use of Betargin was already highly appreciated by patients and doctors.

The use of Betargin in your case is fully justified. Betaine in the drug product composition will help removing fat from liver cells and restoring their normal operation. And Arginine, the second component of Betargin, will contribute to the relaxation of bile ducts, softer bile secretion. Betargin also has anti-inflammatory effects, helps to eliminate toxins and improve the oxygen supply of organs.

Hello! I have started using Betargin at cosmetologist’s recommendation (acne problems, rosacea). But pain in the right hypochondrium after using it appeared. As far as I know, the liver can not ache, thus, it’s the gallbladder. It never used to ache before. I feel this pain after each use. I have been taking Betargin for the second day so far. Is this normal? Or, vise versa, this is exacerbation caused by treatment? There are no stones in the gallbladder, but the ultrasound always shows mild congestion. Gastroenterologists always diagnosed me with cholecystitis, pancreatitis. Thanks a lot for your answer! Olena

Hello!

When Betargin is used, the bile ducts relax and the bile outflow improves. If the ultrasound showed congestion in the gallbladder, the sensations in the right hypochondrium can be explained by increased bile outflow. Betargin does not possess a direct choleretic effect. After holidays, many people suffer from excessive burden of the gastrointestinal tract organs, so exacerbation of chronic conditions can not be excluded. It is better to consult a gastroenterologist and to continue using the drug product.

How often does the drug product lower blood pressure and by how many mm Hg? Anna

Hello!

Betargin, due to arginine in its composition, may contribute to a smooth slight decrease in blood pressure; hypotonics almost do not feel this at all, but people with an elevated blood pressure using Betargin may experience a positive effect on their wellbeing. In all patients, the effect on blood pressure is individual. If drugs that lower blood pressure are taken in parallel, the decrease may be more pronounced. Betargin is not a blood pressure lowering drug, so it is also used by people who do not need to lower blood pressure. Its effect consists in relaxation of the vessels.

Hello! Can Betargin be taken in hyperacidity and heartburn? Thank you! Nina Mykolaivna

Hello!

Betargin can be taken in hyperacidity and heartburn. But this is not an acidity lowering agent – there are other drug groups for this purpose.

Citrate ions in Betargin composition promote the improvement of digestion in various dyspeptic conditions, flatulence, and a feeling of heaviness in the stomach. However, it is necessary to consult a doctor, as the causes of heartburn are different, and therefore competent medical advice is needed.

Hello! Could you tell me, please, what should I take in complex with Betargin to support the heart? I used to consume a lot of alcohol for a long time, but I haven’t been drinking for a month. Sometimes I feel some discomfort in the heart, though ECG showed that everything seemed fine. Mykola Mykolaiovych

Hello!

If you have heart problems, then of course you need a cardiologist to prescribe a treatment regimen based on the data from your examinations. If there are no problems so far, then you will gain significant benefits from the use of Betargin.

Firstly, the body will gradually liquidate the effects of alcohol burden – the function of the liver will be restored, and detoxification will increase.

Secondly, Betargin exerts positive effect on the condition of blood vessels, helps to reduce blood pressure, prevent atherosclerosis, improve heart function.

Thirdly, Betargin enhances the production of energy, thereby providing a surge of strength and vitality.

Hello! Can Betargin be taken as a simple tonic in constant fatigue? And how should it be taken? Can I take Betargin with low blood pressure? Thank you. Marina

Hello!

Certainly, everyone can take Betargin as an agent promoting energy production, improving blood supply and providing tissues with oxygen, in a dose one ampoule 3 times a day for 2 weeks, but sometimes this may not be enough. The reason is that chronic fatigue often develops in association with various diseases, and at first it would be right to go to the doctor, to establish the cause of the exhaustion, which could be problems with the thyroid gland, liver diseases, etc. In such cases, an integrated approach is necessary to solve the problem.

Long-term use of Betargin can lead to a slight decrease in blood pressure, since arginine, included to Betargin formulation, promotes relaxation of blood vessels. Therefore, if your blood pressure is too low, you must first consult your doctor or choose another medicinal product.

Betargin can be taken concomitantly with other drug products, it is often recommended to patients in parallel with antibiotics treatment course in order to lower toxic burden on the body. Besides, Betargin is prescribed during the period after illness, as it promotes sooner recuperation and strengthening of the immune system.

Can Betargin be taken during antibiotics treatment course for tuberculosis? Thank you in advance for your answer! Nataliia

Hello!

When any antibiotics are prescribed, the liver has to bear a significant toxic burden. Anti-tuberculosis drugs are among the most toxic ones, therefore, their long-term administration significantly depletes the liver cells, leads to their inflammation, affects the liver functions, and further leads to the death of hepatocytes.
Use of Betargin contributes to the rapid restoration of biochemical parameters of the liver, enhances detoxification of the whole body, normalizes all types of metabolism, contributes to additional energy production. Due to arginine, microcirculation and oxygen supply to tissues are improved, which will be an additional benefit in your situation.

I take several medications on a permanent basis, I have even begun to feel nausea and pain in my side, and the doctor says it’s from taking the medications, but they can’t be withdrawn, so she prescribed Betargin to support the liver. I’m worried, wouldn’t it make me sick too? Victor

Yes, indeed, there is such a phenomenon as drug burden on the liver, when, during long-term use of medications, the liver does not have time to neutralize the drug cleavage products, and this may soon lead to its inflammation. With long-term dysfunction of the liver, patients may experience dyspeptic manifestations – nausea, heaviness in the right hypochondrium, etc. Betargin in such cases exerts several effects at once – due to arginine, it restores the detoxification functions of the liver, reduces inflammation, and also eliminates dyspeptic phenomena due to citrate ions in its composition. Therefore, nausea will soon resolve, and the pain in the hypochondrium will also be alleviated.

Hello! Endocrinologist prescribed me betargin+glutargin to maintain the liver, to mix one ampoule of each in 1/2 glass of water, to take twice daily for 5 days. The diagnosis is Graves’ disease. Is it correct? Iryna

Hello!

The liver suffers in thyroid gland diseases, as the metabolism of fats is disturbed and they begin to accumulate in excessive amounts in the liver. Therefore, the use of Betargin is justified, it improves microcirculation in the liver, promotes the removal of excess fat from the liver cells and repairs damaged liver cells. Concomitant use of Betargin and Glutargin has not been studied, therefore, it is recommended to check the correctness of this treatment regimen with your doctor.

Hello) Could you please consult me on the following manner. The instruction for adults says it should be taken after meal, but what about children? Wouldn’t it be harmful to take it under fasting conditions? Khrystyna

Hello!

Adults are recommended to take it after meals, since all hepatobiliary system diseases are associated with digestive disorders, and Betargin composition includes citrate ions that improve the digestive process. In the case of acetonemic syndrome, there is no need to relate the intake of Betargin to meals, since the main action is realized via arginine and betaine, which are in the drug product composition.

This is supposed to take several hours. The point is that a child could receive this solution in small doses for at least the first two days, even at night time, in order to normalize metabolic processes. Hello!

Betargin, in contrast to plant-based hepatoprotectors, has a broader range of action, and exerts not only hepato-, but also cardioprotective and anti-atherogenic effects due to its ingredients arginine and betaine. If there are no serious problems with the liver, it can be taken occassionally (as the use of antirheumatic drugs is permanent) for 2 weeks, 2-3 ampoules or sticks per day. The treatment course can be repeated every 2 months.

Can Betargin be taken in a day after one ampoule neck has broken off? Isn’t it harmful? Ivan

Good afternoon, Ivan!

Thank you for your appeal!

Betargin remains active within a day after opening the ampoule, and Betargin can be used either in pure form or in the form of a solution. However, you need to be sure that the ampoule has been open for no more than a day. It should be noted that the solution will not pour out of the ampoule, if only one tip is broken off, the solution is poured out when the ampoule is opened from the two ends. If the integrity of the ampoule has been affected several days ago or more, Betargin loses its efficacy and should not be used.

For how many days and how many sachets of the drug product should be gived to a child aged 3.2 years old in food intoxication with increased acetone level? What is the scheme of prophylactic use in adults? Anna

Hello!

In acetonemic syndrome (AS), 2 sachets per day are prescribed (a special convenient Betargin dosage form for children, 5 sachets per package, is now available at the market). The method of dilution and dosage for children is described in detail in the instructions. The main thing is to give it regularly during the day for at least 3 days! This will help to eliminate AS symptoms quickly. Then it is advisable to use it for 5 more days, possibly twice daily, if a child can consume half of a glass at once. If taking it immediately is difficult, it can be given in fractional manner, like the first days. Such scheme will not only allow to relieve the symptoms (nausea, vomiting, headache, weakness), but also to eliminate the AS consequences, i.e. disorders of metabolic processes in the body, correctly.

It can be gived for prophylactic purposes, but this is not a guarantee of absence of AS, but aimed at improving metabolism, liver function, during overload period or during recovery period after viral diseases or treatment with antibiotics. During these periods, the probability of AS development is higher, and this will be justified. The treatment scheme is 2 sachets per day for 10 days.

How does Betargin act in acetonemic syndrome? What are the processes it influences? Alina

Hello!

Betargin exerts multifactor effect in acetonemic syndrome: it acts on the process of ketone bodies formation, on their disposal, elimination from the body, as well as on elimination of the consequences of acetone damaging effects and the subsequent normalization of metabolic processes.

If you need more detailed information, please read the article “Betargin® in complex therapy of acetonemic syndrome in children“.

Hello! The child is 7 years old, has diabetes mellitus type 1 and frequent acetonemic syndrome associated with low sugar level. Betargin was taken in the dose 2 ampoules a day for 7 days at doctor’s prescription. Acetone level was normalized within a day. The blood sugar level was essentially reduced up to complete withdrawal of insulin therapy. The effect was maintained for 2 weeks after completion of Betargin treatment course. Can Betargin lower blood sugar level? Our endocrinologist could not answer, as she has started prescribing it recently, and she is not aware of its effects on glucose level. Can Betargin be taken for acetonemic syndrome prophylaxis (it happens very frequently, every 1-2 months)? It would be much more desirable to prevent it than going to a hospital to receive medications from a dripper… Yuliia

Hello!

There are data from international studies, presented in scientific medical databases, regarding the ability of arginine, included to Betargin composition, to increase insulin secretion and increase the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to it. The second component of Betargin, betaine, promotes the reduction of insulin resistance, as well as increases the production of adiponectin, which reduces glucose production. Due to these mechanisms, the patient might exhibit the said effects.

In acetonemic syndrome, Betargin contributes to the rapid inactivation and elimination of ketone bodies from the body, detoxification, improvement of oxygen supply to all tissues, generation of energy molecules and restoration of metabolic processes. Prophylaxis of acetonemic syndrome does not guarantee its non-development, since it is influenced by many factors. But at the first signs you need to start fractional and REGULAR! liquid feeding to your child during the day (even several times at night) and thus prevent the process from aggravating and immediately reduce intoxication.

Hello!

A 7-year-old child can be given the whole ampoule of Betargin dissolved in a half a glass of water to drink at once. Still, if a child has acetonemic syndrome and frequent vomiting, even half of a glass of liquid can cause retching, which is why it is recommended to take it in a fractional manner. After a long-term antiparasitic treatment, a child (13 years old) has permanent weakness, no appetite, aching heaviness in the right side, the skin began to look worse. The doctor said it is due to medicamental burden after treatment, the liver needs to be supported, and gave a list of medications. Pharmacy employees said than Betargin is the best. Would it be suitable for a child? Anna

Hello!

As we are talking about a child, it is better to use proven medicinal products of European manufacturers. As regards Betargin, the complex of its ingredients most actively promotes detoxification, including that after medicamental burden, after toxic effects of parasite waste products or the parasites themselves. Arginine, besides activating the neutralizing function of the liver, but also helps to eliminate toxins from the body more quickly. It improves microcirculation, saturates the blood with oxygen, restores energy production, provides a burst of energy. Citrate ions help to normalize digestion and to improve appetite. A unique component, betaine “repairs” the membranes of liver cells damaged by drugs or other toxic substances. Betargin has been successfully used in pediatrics for many years, it is convenient to use, it will quickly restore the normal functioning of the liver, help to remove the effects of toxic burden.

According to the instruction, this drug product is not recommended to children aged under 12 years old. Should we use Betargin at our doctor’s prescription? Thank you. Maryna.

You should follow your doctor’s prescriptions. In 2014, Betargin passed the final clinical trials in France, proving its safety and therapeutic efficacy in children aged over 3 years old. Hello! A 4-year-old child had urticaria, it resolves and then re-appears again for a week already! An ultrasound was done, the liver was enlarged a little, and there was cholestasis! Is Betargin treatment appropriate? The doctor has withdrawn all medications until the rash is resolved! I have read that Betargin eliminates toxins freely, is that right? And how long should it be taken? Thank you! Inna

Hello!

Betargin has a pronounced detoxification effect and may be indicated in the pathology described above. But it is recommended to adhere to medical appointments, as the doctor personally follows up the child and adjusts the treatment according to his/her condition and the presence of symptoms.

Hello! Can a child aged 2.8 years old be given a dose of Betargin not fractionally every 10-15 minutes, but at once? The symptoms are acetone and cold. And does it affect the liver? Tatyana

Hello!

If a child can physically drink 100 ml of liquid at once, then, of course, you can. Fractional intake is recommended for dosage convenience in childhood. It does not “affect” the liver, since, on the contrary, it has a pronounced hepatoprotective, detoxification and anti-asthenic effect.

Use of Betargin in pregnant women 3 question
Hello! I took Betargin for a month in the dose 2 ampoules a day for prophylaxis, and then I found out that I have been pregnant for 6 weeks. Now I’m worried could it be harmful for the baby, because the instructions state contraindications for pregnant women. Liubov

Hello!

A recent study has shown the undoubted benefits of using Betargin either before pregnancy (in order to improve the female reproductive function and pregnancy rate) and during pregnancy (to reduce toxicosis).

To date, the instruction is being amended in relation with the results of this study. But the further feasibility of taking Betargin should be determined by your doctor after consultation.

Stay healthy!
